On October 15, 2018, the first LOCUS seminar took place, entitled Smart Territories: contemporary challenges. The Seminar had the enriching presence of Professor Álvaro Luiz Mathias, who presented the communication Management Perspectives and Solid Waste Treatment in Smart Cities.
Professor Álvaro holds a postgraduate degree in Urban and Industrial Environment from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Technology Sector, Federal University of Paraná-Brazil.
The objective of the Seminar was to discuss territorial innovation, namely through some of the main challenges that contemporary societies face: sustainability, waste treatment and the intergenerational phenomenon of environmental sustainability.
The event was held at the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision and moderation of Professor Lídia Oliveira and Professor Ana Carla Amaro
