Susana Sardo is Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, and Visitant Professor of the Chair Cunha Rivara at Goa University, India. She received her doctorare from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Her research interests include music in Goa and the Goan Diaspora, music and the post-colonial approach, music and the lusophonic world, including Portugal, and methodological approaches to the study of music. She has conducted fieldwork and archival research in Portugal and in India. She is the author of the book “Guerras de Jasmim e Mogarim: Música, Identidade e Emoções em Goa” (Texto 2011) which received the 2012 Culture Award from the Lisbon Geographical Society. In 2008 she was appointed as the Portuguese representative for the Board of Trustes of the European Cultural Foundation Europamusicale, based in Munich. And in 2017 was elected as co-chair or the Study Group on Historical Sources of ICTM. Susana Sardo is the coordinator of the Aveiro branch of the Research Centre for Ethnomusicology (INET-md).
